Man Stabbed In Head At SF's Main Library Over Alleged Stolen Bag
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man stabbed another man in the head in a restroom at the San Francisco Main Library on Monday after believing his bag was stolen, police said.
Louis Kessler, 38, was arrested in connection with the stabbing reported at 4:40 p.m. at the library at 100 Larkin St. in the city's Civic Center neighborhood, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
The victim, a 27-year-old transient, told police he was in a restroom stall and saw a bag outside the stall. Kessler then allegedly pushed open the stall door and said it was his bag and that he believed the victim stole it, police said.
Kessler then used a kitchen knife to stab the victim in the face and head, according to Esparza.
Officers arrived and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder and false imprisonment, Esparza said.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, Esparza said.
