Man Sprays Passerby With Mystery Substance In Pleasant Hill In Cellphone Theft
PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) - Police were attempting to locate a suspect who asked a passerby for directions then snatched the victim's iPhone in Pleasant Hill on Tuesday morning.
The victim was walking on Harvard Drive near College Way around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday when a male approached and asked for directions to another street, police said.
The victim looked up the directions on the iPhone, but when the suspect asked to see the directions and the victim held up the phone, the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with an unknown liquid and grabbed the device, according to police.
He fled while the victim was temporarily incapacitated. The victim is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the robbery.
