San Jose Kidnapping Suspect In Custody, Woman Found Safe
SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) -- A suspect accused of stabbing a man and abducting an 18-year-old woman in San Jose on Sunday morning surrendered himself to police Monday night, a police sergeant said.
Brian Bui Adrong, 28, turned himself in to San Jose police around 7:20 p.m., police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.
With him was kidnapping victim Judy La, 18, who did not appear to have been harmed, Lopez said.
Adrong was wanted after allegedly stabbing a 28-year-old man and then kidnapping La around 7:50 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 2600 block of Lucena Drive, Lopez said.
The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital with multiple stab wounds but was in stable condition tonight, Lopez said. He is expected to survive the attack.
Adrong and the two victims are all San Jose residents who knew one another prior to the incident, Lopez said.
"It wasn't a random act," he said.
The stabbing victim said the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the woman who was kidnapped.
Adrong, who also goes by the name Tony Pham, was taken into custody without incident and will be booked and interviewed Monday night, Lopez said.
Police expect to have more information Tuesday, Lopez said.
