Man Sought In Abduction, Sexual Assault On Utah Teen Found In Eureka
EUREKA (CBS/AP) -- Police say a 33-year-old convicted sex offender sought in the armed abduction and sexual assault of a teenager in Utah has been arrested in Northern California.
Ogden police said Ryan Mitchell Schaffer was arrested Friday at a home in Eureka, on felony aggravated kidnapping and unlawful sexual activity with a minor charges.
Schaffer is accused of abducting the 14-year-old boy at knifepoint July 3 at a FrontRunner train station at Wall Avenue and West 24th Street.
The boy told police that Schaffer forced him at gunpoint to perform sex acts several times before he was able to escape.
Schaffer was convicted in 2007 of felony sexual exploitation of a minor, and was convicted in May 2012 of and attempting to not register as a sex offender.
