Man Shot In SF Mission District Expected To Survive

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man who was critically injured in a shooting in San Francisco's Mission District on Tuesday afternoon is now expected to survive, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

The shooting was reported around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday near 24th and Harrison streets.

The 37-year-old victim was walking when two suspects ran up and shot him in the stomach, police said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with what were initially described as life-threatening injuries, but police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said this afternoon that the man is now expected to survive.

No information about possible suspects or a motive for the shooting have been released, but Manfredi said investigators do not believe it was gang-related.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
