Man Shot In Head, Pushed Out Of Car In Antioch

ANTIOCH (BCN/AP) - A shooting in Antioch Monday evening left a man in critical condition, and authorities were still searching for the suspects, police said.

Police responded to a section of Rockspring Way at about 5:15 p.m.  and found a man in his 20s who had been shot in the head lying in the street.

After life-saving measures were administered, the victim was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he remains in "very critical condition," police said.

Police said they believe the victim drove to Rockspring Way to meet with a group of people who were in a very dirty 1990s dark green two-door Ford Escort.

The victim joined the car's occupants—described only as black males - and almost as soon as the man entered the car, shots were heard, police said. The victim was then shoved from the car before the suspects sped off.

Lt Leonard Orman said authorities are still trying to determine the relationship between the victim and several men who were inside the car.

Orman said the man was in "very critical" condition Monday evening and had not regained consciousness.

Police have no suspects.  The victim's name hasn't been released.

Witnesses and anyone with information are directed to contact Antioch police Sgt. Steve Bias at (925) 779-6929.
