Slow Driving May Have Led To Fremont Road Rage Shooting
FREMONT (KCBS) — Fremont police were searching for a suspect who allegedly shot and injured a 59-year-old man Thursday morning in a road rage incident that began on I-680.
The two drivers exited at Mission Boulevard in Fremont around 5:30 a.m., then took a right on to Brown Road. It was there that police said one driver opened fire on the other.
"The early information is that one of the two parties was driving slow and the other party was upset with that. But as to what actually transpired and what the events were, we are not 100 percent sure still," Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said. "The victim was in his vehicle, he likely pulled up on the suspect who shot at the victim through his window or door."
Man Shot in Fremont Road Rage Incident
A man from a nearby donut shop called 911 after the victim, identified by police as a Pleasanton resident, drove his older brown Mercedes into the shopping center and ran into the donut shop.
He suffered a serious but non-life threatening gunshot wound to the torso and was transported to a hospital in San Jose.
Police said the man also had a German Shepard in the car with him but the dog wasn't injured in the shooting.
The suspect and the suspect's vehicle have not been identified.
The intersection of Mission Boulevard and Brown was closed to traffic while investigators processed the crime scene.
