Man Sentenced To 38 Years For Daly City Rape
DALY CITY (AP) - A man charged with sexually assaulting a Daly City woman then forcing her to shower in an attempt to destroy genetic evidence has been sentenced to 38 years in prison.
Burgess Raymond Crosby Jr. pleaded no contest Thursday to charges related to the August 2007 assault to settle his case before trial was to begin.
Crosby could have faced up to life in prison if a jury convicted him of sexual assault during a residential burglary.
The victim reported that a masked man broke into her home, raped her at knifepoint then dragged her to the shower where he washed her with soap. Crosby wasn't identified until four months later when DNA evidence from the crime scene matched his genetic profile collected after a 2001 conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse.
