Man Shot, Killed In San Leandro Selling Used Cell Phone On 'Let Go' App
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man using a popular app to sell his cell phone was gunned down in broad daylight in San Leandro Saturday.
It happened around 1 p.m. at a gas station just south of the city limits of San Leandro. Residents say it is a popular meeting spot.
A 32-year-old man and his brother went there to sell a cellphone.
The suspect contacted the victim through the popular "Let Go" app, where people list items for sale.
"This was a transaction turned bad. At some point it turned into a robbery," said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "Taking someone's life for a cellphone just does not make sense."
The gunman shot and killed the man selling the phone as both stood in the gas station parking lot. Then, the two suspects drove away.
Law enforcement authorities say the area always sees an increase in the number of robberies during the holidays. They will be stepping up patrols.
So far, there have been no arrests in the case or description of the suspects.
