Man Lost In Lake County Wilderness Found, Survived On Pine Nuts
LAKE COUNTY (CBS / AP) -- The family of a Sacramento-area man who was lost in the wilderness for more than a week says he survived on runoff and pine nuts.
The Davis Enterprise reported that 25-year-old Daniel Thompson of Davis turned up around a campground in Lake County on Sunday.
His father, Brian Thompson, said he had been missing since April 13 after leaving on a camping trip.
He lost control of his car and went off a road in a rural area northwest of Clear Lake. With no cellphone reception, he wandered the wilderness searching for help, surviving on pine nuts and runoff.
Brian Thompson said his son grew up learning about edible plants, and pine nuts were among his favorite.
