Man Killed By Hit & Run Driver In Vallejo; Suspect Arrested
VALLEJO (BCN) - A man standing outside the driver's side door of his car was fatally struck by a passing vehicle inVallejo on Wednesday night.
At about 8:40 p.m., officers said that a 36-year-old man was standing near his vehicle, parked in the 2700 block ofTuolumne Street, when a motorist traveling north on the roadway crashed into the driver's side section of the vehicle.
The man was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
The man's identity was being held pending the notification of his next of kin, police said.
After the collision, the driver of the vehicle, who police later identified as 43-year-old Robert Willis, fled the scene.
Officers dispatched to the scene found Willis a short distance away from the crash site, where he had abandoned his vehicle, police said.
Willis was booked into Solano County Jail and is being held on felony hit-and-run charges as well as a felony driving under the influence charge.
