Man Found Dead In San Leandro Creek

SAN LEANDRO (BCN) - A man was found dead in San Leandro Creek on Sunday evening, and investigators have not ruled out homicide as the cause of death, a police lieutenant said Tuesday.

The man's body was found by two passersby at about 7:45 p.m.  Sunday in the creek near Bancroft Avenue, San Leandro police Lt. Jeff Tudor said.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of his family members.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau is investigating the cause of death, and police are seeking more information about the case.

Crime Stoppers of Southern Alameda County is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. To be eligible for the reward, tipsters must call the Crime Stoppers hotline at (510) 293-7197.
