Man Dies In West Oakland Stabbing
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A man died at a hospital after being found stabbed in West Oakland Wednesday morning, a police spokeswoman said.
Police responded at about 6:50 a.m. to a report of a man down near the intersection of Wood Street and West Grand Avenue, Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Holly Joshi said.
Officers arrived to find a 49-year-old man suffering from apparent stab wounds, Joshi said. He was taken to Highland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later Wednesday morning, she said.
The man's name is not being released until his family members are notified of the death, Joshi said.
No arrests had been made in connection with the stabbing, according to Joshi.
The homicide is Oakland's 45th of 2011. Last year at this time, there had been 34 murders, she said.
Crime Stoppers and police were offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case, Joshi said. Anyone with information on the killing was asked to call the Police Department's homicide unit at (510) 238-3821.
