Newark High Football Player Stabbed To Death At Fremont House Party
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- Police said an 18-year-old high school football player was stabbed to death at a party in Fremont.
Osana Futi, a star running back and linebacker for Newark Memorial High School, was stabbed on Saturday night and pronounced dead at a hospital early Sunday.
Fremont police Sgt. Curt Codey said no arrests have been made.
Codey said officers responded to reports of gunshots and a loud party.
The school's athletic director Rich Swift says Futi was named Mission Valley Athletic League's Rob Johnson Defensive Player of the year.
Futi's life had been troubled in recent years after the murder of a close friend.
Official said he was briefly kicked out of school after being accused of threatening another student who had mocked his friend's death.
