Man Under Crossing Redwood City Street Hit, Killed By Car
REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- A 62-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Redwood City Monday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Redwood City officers responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian at Middlefield Road north of Dumbarton Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
The man was crossing east on Middlefield Road where he was struck by the front of a 2013 Nissan driving north, Montiel said.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The San Mateo County coroner's office identified him as 62-year-old Miguel Ramirez, a Redwood City resident.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as a 32-year-old man from Rochester, NY, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, Montiel said.

Police believe Ramirez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, according to Montiel.
"I don't know if he had just left the bar, but he was carrying some beer with him," Montiel said.
All lanes of Middlefield Road at Pacific Avenue were closed for about two-and-a-half hours.
The collision was under investigation and any witnesses are asked to call CHP Officer T.J. Taylor (650) 369-6261.
