Man Arrested In Rape Of 13-Year-Old Girl In Novato
NOVATO (CBS SF) - Police arrested a man suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl in Novato on Monday.
Shortly after 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a house in the 1600 block of Hill Road after receiving a call from the victim's family members, who were detaining the man, Novato police Sgt. Jennifer Dunlap said.
The victim told police that the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Luis Alberto Rodriguez-Gines, was her roommate.
As Rodriguez-Gines was assaulting the girl, she stabbed him with a knife, according to Dunlap.
Officers considered the stab wound to be minor and arrested Rodriguez-Gines.
The girl was transported to a local hospital to undergo a sexual assault examination and was determined to have no obvious injuries, Dunlap said.
Rodriguez-Gines was booked into the Marin County Jail and is being held without bail.
