Man Arrested In Connection With Rio Vista Home Burglary
RIO VISTA (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a man Saturday in connection with the burglary of a Rio Vista home that occurred just the day before.
Around 5 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a burglary that had just occurred in the first block of Esperson Court, according to police.
The house had recently been purchased during an auction and the new owners had begun working on the house earlier in the day. The owners left tools inside the house while they left to run errands, police said.
Upon returning to the home, the owners discovered someone had broken into the house and taken the tools, police said.
After an initial investigation, a vigilant neighbor told police he had seen a suspicious man come out of the house with two boxes of tools.
The neighbor took a picture of the suspect's vehicle and its license plate, according to police.
Officers determined the suspect's vehicle was s 2013 red, four-door Volkswagen Jetta.
With the license plate information, officers were able to identify the suspect as 31-year-old Dixon resident Shawn Easter, police said.
The following day, officers located Easter's vehicle at his residence and later that day conducted a traffic stop on Easter's vehicle.
Officers found Easter to be in possession of a firearm. Officers arrested him on suspicion of burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to police.
