Man Arrested After Firing Assault Rifle Inside Santa Rosa Home, Clubbing Family Member
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A man armed with an assault rifle allegedly shot 12 rounds inside his Santa Rosa home and then struck a family member with the gun early Friday morning, police said.
Around 5:30 a.m., officers arrived at the home in the 500 block of Colgan Avenue. There, they learned a man shot multiple rounds, causing the bullets to travel to his neighbor's duplex, police said.
When the neighbor, a family member, went to check on the suspect, he allegedly struck her with the rifle, according to police.
Investigators believe the suspect was under the influence of some kind of stimulant at the time of the shooting.
The victim was not shot but suffered injuries related to being hit with the rifle, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect, identified as Philip Iannone, 34, on suspicion of shooting into an inhabited dwelling and being under the influence of a controlled drug, according to police.
Inside Iannone's home, officers seized the assault rifle and also found a shotgun and a handgun, police said.
