Man Answering Online Prostitution Ad Robbed In Fremont; Man, Woman Arrested
FREMONT (CBS SF) - An Oakland man and woman were arrested in Fremont after allegedly baiting a victim with an online prostitution ad and robbing him at gunpoint, police said.
A male victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by a man and woman on the street near the intersection of Stevenson Boulevard and Besco Drive early Monday morning, according to police.
The man said he had called an "escort" who met him on Stevenson Boulevard. As the two talked, a man with a gun pushed the "john" to the ground and stole $100 from him, according to police.
Police said the man denied calling for escort services, despite his repeated phone calls to the woman's number before the robbery.
An investigation led police to identify the suspects as Joanna Rehart and Deandre Brown, both 30-year-old Oakland residents, police said.
Police said officers located the pair the next day at a Fremont motel and found evidence from the robbery inside their car. Both were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
