Man Accused Of Stealing Gun From South San Francisco Home
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A South San Francisco man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft early Monday morning after he allegedly stole a gun from a home and fired a shot inside the residence, police said.
According to police, 26-year-old Nicholas Maday allegedly entered a home at 102 A St. in South San Francisco around 11:55 p.m. Sunday and stole a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver from an unlocked cabinet and $200 in cash from atop a dresser in a bedroom.
The intruder then entered the bathroom and fired the revolver. The bullet passed through the wall and into the adjoining bedroom.
Two residents, a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, were home at the time but no injuries were reported, police Sgt. Joni Lee said.
According to police, Maday fled the house with the loaded revolver and drove off in a black GMC truck.
The weapon was later found hidden in the backyard of Maday's friend's house in South San Francisco, police said.
Police found Maday around 2:25 a.m. Monday. He was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges of burglary, grand theft of a firearm, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, and carrying a loaded firearm.
