Man Accused Of Smuggling 45 Pounds Of Pot From Bay Area To Georgia
SAVANNAH, Ga. (CBS / AP) — Authorities in coastal Georgia say an Atlanta man accused of smuggling about 45 pounds of marijuana from the Bay Area has been arrested.
Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Sgt. Mark Lupus tells the Savannah Morning News that Adrian Zackery was charged with trafficking marijuana after a sheriff's dog detected the drug in two of his three suitcases.
Authorities say the man initially denied giving them permission to search his bags and after obtaining a warrant, investigators found marijuana in vacuum sealed bags inside his suitcase.
Officials say the man was traveling from San Jose to Atlanta and is awaiting his Friday arraignment in the Chatham County Jail. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
