Man Accused Of North Bay Crime Spree, Oregon Murder Appears In Court
SAN RAFAEL (KCBS) - A man arrested for a crime spree in Sonoma and Marin counties after a Castro Valley woman was killed in Oregon will face charges of felony kidnapping, carjacking in California before being tried for murder, prosecutors said.
Marin County District Attorney Ed Berberian said Jeffrey Boyce would be charged in connection with crimes allegedly committed while he apparently tried to reach the Russian Consulate in San Francisco, then later stand trial in Oregon for the murder of Kirsten Englund.
"He's facing seven felony counts," Berberian said, including carjacking, attempted carjacking, kidnapping, making a criminal threat and dissuading a witness.
Englund's body was found Sunday, three miles south of Reedsport, Ore.

Boyce wore an orange and white jumpsuit, his hands handcuffed, during a brief initial court appearance Friday where the judge continued his felony arraignment until May 17.
Since his arrest Monday, Boyce has not been interviewed by the public defender representing him because he has been held in a safety cell reserved for those who may harm themselves or others.
"There are apparently some mental health issues," said Deputy Public Defender Brian Morris. "That may be why my access has been restricted a bit, because he's been in a safety cell."
Boyce's mother had called police saying her 30-year-old son was ranting against the government and wanted Russia to grant him asylum. Police claimed Boyce in his ramblings expressed sympathy for the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing.
