Man Accused Of Child Abuse, Lewd Acts At Wife's In-Home Day Care Center

RIO VISTA (CBS SF) - A Rio Vista man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse and committing lewd acts on children at his wife's in-house day care center, according to the Solano County Sheriff's Office.

On Aug. 8, the Rio Vista Police Department asked the Solano County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau to assist with an investigation into possible criminal misconduct at a state-licensed in-house day care facility, Lots of Tots, in the 2100 block of Tahoe Drive in Rio Vista.

Sheriff's detectives were assisted by investigators at the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Health and Human Services Agency.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Don Elliott, 49, and a search warrant for the child care facility on Wednesday.

Elliott was taken into custody and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of committing lewd acts upon a child, attempted lewd acts upon a child and felony child abuse. He is being held on $230,000 bail, according to the sheriff's office.

Two victims of child molestation have been identified, sheriff's officials said.

Lots of Tots has been a licensed day care facility for 12 years, and the Community Care Licensing Division is in the process of revoking the license, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the case to call the sheriff's office at (707) 748-1490.
