Pleasant Hill BART Station Reopens, Service Restored After Fatal Incident
PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- The Pleasant Hill BART station has reopened and service between Walnut Creek and Concord restored after the county coroner removed a person from the tracks near the station, according to transit officials.
Officials with the Contra Costa County coroner's office arrived at the Pleasant Hill station late Tuesday morning to remove a person from the tracks, according to BART spokesman Jim Allison.
The agency first became aware of a person on the tracks around
10:05 a.m. and announced the interruption of service in both directions between Walnut Creek and Concord at around 10:20 a.m.
The @SFBARTalert Twitter account posted about the incident at about 10:30 a.m.
BART trains resumed service between Walnut Creek and Concord on the Antioch line around 11:15 a.m. and maintained that service for around 20
minutes before coroner's officials arrived, according to Allison.
BART police are investigating the death and do not suspect foul play at this time.
At about 12:15 p.m., BART confirmed that service had been restored and the Pleasant Hill station was reopened.
Passengers used County Connection bus 14 to travel between the Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and Concord Stations during the closure. County Connection bus 15 serves the Concord and Pleasant Hill stations.
