Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Strikes South Of Japan
(CBS SF) - A sizable earthquake has struck deep in the water south of Japan, near the Bonin Islands.
The magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck at 4.55 a.m. local time, at a depth of 318 miles, according to the USGS.
The quake was centered 5oo miles south of Tokyo on the Philippine Sea Plate. NOAA had not issued a Tsunami warning for the quake.
