Magnitude 4.2 Quake Strikes Near Reno, Felt In Northern California
RENO, Nev. (CBS / AP) -- A 4.2 earthquake was felt near Reno on Monday.
The quake was felt by residents in the Reno and Sparks area at 5:51 p.m. local time.
The quake was centered at 1.9 miles northeast of Spanish Springs.
Mike Morgan of Wingfield Springs said that he could feel the ground shake outside his home, but nothing fell inside.
A Sacramento TV station said the earthquake was felt in Northern California, including in Grass Valley and Placerville.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey had initially rated the earthquake as a 4.7, but later downgraded the magnitude.
