Madden & Mariucci: Niners Have The Edge In Very Physical Game
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew he likes the 49ers in the Super Bowl, "(But) it's going to be a tough game, I think it's going to be a physical game, I think it's going to be a close game. And if you ask me if I see any way the Ravens could beat them, I sure could."
Former 49ers coach and NFL analyst Steve Mariucci was a guest on John's KCBS segment.
"I just think the 49ers are too physical up front with that offensive line. John, you have an appreciation for offensive lines. They're the best in the league, don't you think?" Madden agreed, noting the switch to Colin Kaepernick at quarterback and the read-option offense may have made their job easier.
"If there was an adjustment, I think with Kaepernick and the threat of him running, I think it's probably helped the offensive line."
Mariucci also said he expects a very physical game.
"You have two great defenses and very disciplined, hard-nosed teams," Mariucci said. "These are old school coaches that like to play smash-mouth, run the ball, play defense. I love it." (8:30)
