Louisiana Tech Holds Off San Jose State, 45-38

SAN JOSE (AP) ― Lennon Creer rushed for a career-high 252 yards and three touchdowns, and Phillip Livas tied a NCAA record with an 88-yard punt return for a touchdown Saturday night to lead Louisiana Tech past San Jose State 45-38.

The Bulldogs (5-6, 4-3 WAC) overcame San Jose State quarterback Jordan La Secla's career-high 496 yards and five touchdown passes to record their fourth win in six games.

Creer rushed for 151 yards in the first quarter and had 203 yards and three touchdowns rushing by halftime.

Livas tied a NCAA record with his eighth career combined kickoff/punt return for a touchdown. Chad Boyd's interception of La Secla with 12 seconds left clinched the win.

La Secla connected with Jalal Beauchman for three of his touchdown passes, including a 67-yarder on the second offensive play for San Jose State (1-11, 0-7). Beauchman finished with career highs of nine receptions and 178 yards.
