Local DJ Releases Yearly Video Mashup 'United State of Pop'
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - For the past six years, Bay Area music producer, DJ Earworm has released "United State of Pop," a mashup mix of the year's top music, all set in one mashup. By definition, a "mashup" is a complete song comprised of elements of two or more pre-existing pieces of music. In the case of DJ Earworm's 2012 release, titled "Shine Brighter," he utilizes 25 different songs, determined by Billboard's weekly Hot 100 charts.
Each year, Earworm releases his "United State of Pop" mashup via San Bruno-based YouTube and often the video goes viral with views of over 10 million.
