Livermore Driver Fleeing Police Leads To Multi-Vehicle Crash
LIVERMORE (KCBS) - An Oakland man was arrested after he allegedly caused a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning in Livermore while evading police, authorities said.
Police received calls about 6:54 a.m. about a suspicious person in the commercial and industrial area of Livermore. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a pickup truck transporting sheets of glass leaving the area and tried to stop it when the suspect fled, Sgt. John Hurd said.
"They initiated a pursuit but he started driving a little too erratic and they cancelled the pursuit," he said.
But the suspect kept driving and eventually ran into four other cars in and industrial complex near Las Positas Road and Bennett Drive.
The truck tipped over in the crash and landed on its side.
Five people who were in the cars that were hit were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, Hurd said.

Anthony Salvetti, a 43-year-old transient from Oakland, was arrested and charged for possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence and causing injuries.
Investigators contacted the owner of the glass truck and learned that the vehicle had been stolen from the 4700 block of Arroyo Vista, police said.
The intersection where the crash occurred was shut down until about 9 a.m., Hurd said.
