Suspect Arrested After Livermore Police Find Bomb During Search
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A Livermore man was arrested after officers found three explosive devices during a probation search Saturday morning, police said.
Officers arrived at apartment No. 209 at 5810 East Avenue to serve an arrest warrant to Gabriel Douglas, 31, and to execute a probation search warrant around 8 a.m., Livermore police said.
During the search, officers found three explosive devices -- two
wrapped sticks of gunpowder with fuses and a water bottle containing gunpowder and a fuse.
The immediate area was evacuated and the Alameda County Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit responded to secure the explosives, police said. After the devices were secured, residents were permitted to re-enter their homes.
Douglas allegedly admitted to possessing the explosives, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a destructive device, a probation violation and an arrest warrant. Douglas was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
