Bronze Statue Of Jesus Ripped Off Cross Outside Castro Valley Church
CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) -- A bronze statue of Jesus has been stolen off its cross outside the Church of the Transfiguration in Castro Valley.
Its not certain when the theft occurred, but the statue was gone before 7:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday.
Now, the cross sits bare in front of the church located at 4000 E. Castro Valley Boulevard.
The nearly life sized figure weighs about 100 pounds.
According to the Castro Valley News, the statue was probably stolen by someone who hopes to sell it as scrap metal.
