Lesbian Victim Testifies Of Alleged 2008 Gang Rape
(CBS/AP) - A 33-year-old Northern California woman who was allegedly gang raped partly because she is a lesbian is testifying at the trial of one of four men charged in the brutal attack that unfolded on a Richmond street five years ago.
The Contra Costa Times reports that the victim took the witness stand Tuesday on the first day of 36-year-old Humberto Salvador's trial and said the assault started after Salvador demanded her keys and wallet and split her head open with a flashlight.
The woman is not being named because she was the victim of a sexual assault. She was expected to continue her testimony on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Melissa Smith said in her opening statement that after striking the woman, Salvador ordered her to take off her clothes and taunted her about her sexual orientation.
