Legendary 'Eagles' Guitarist, Glenn Frey Dead at 67

NEW YORK, NY (CBS SF) - Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band The Eagles have confirmed the news on their official website. Glenn Frey, guitarist and founding member passed away on Monday. He was 67.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery." - The Eagles

In November 2015, Frey had surgery to take care of an intestinal condition when until the last couple of days, things took a turn for the worse.

"The Eagles" were to participate in the 2015 Kennedy Honors in December, but due to Frey's health, The Kennedy Center agreed to postpone presentation of the award until 2016.
