Learjet Forced To Make Emergency Landing At Oakland Airport
OAKLAND (BCN) -- An electrical failure forced a Napa-bound Learjet to veer off course and make an emergency landing at Oakland International Airport Wednesday, an airport spokeswoman said.
The jet's two pilots decided to make an emergency landing on the airport's main runway around 2:45 p.m., Oakland airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said. No injuries were reported, and no one else was on the aircraft.
Barnes declined to say from where the jet took off.
"They weren't able to taxi beyond the runway using the plane's own power," Barnes said.
The jet got stuck on the main runway for about 45 minutes, but airport operations only experienced minor disruptions because another runway was still operational.
Crews cleared the jet from the runway at about 3:40 p.m., and normal operations resumed, Barnes said.
Barnes said the jet would probably not be moved until inspections and repairs took place.
No delays for unrelated departures and arrivals were reported.
