Late Rally Not Enough, Cal Women Fall To Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Sage Romberg scored 13 points and went 3 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc to help Washington State hammer California 77-63 on Friday night.

Katie Madison and Rosetta Adzasu each added 11 points as the Cougars (4-13, 2-3 Pac-10) won back-to-back conference games.

The Bears (10-5, 2-2) were led by Layshia Clarendon, who had 13 points and four steals. The only other Cal player in double figures was Eliza Pierre, who scored 12 on 6-for-7 shooting.

Washington State hit a 3-pointer on its first possession and started the game with a 13-2 run. The Cougars hit six 3-pointers in the first half and ended with a season-high 12.

After trailing 42-27 at the half, Cal went on a 13-1 run to close within 43-40. But Washington State hit three straight 3-pointers to put the game out of reach.

The Cougars ended a 10-game losing streak against Cal.
