Larry Magid: PS4, XBox One Go Head To Head
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Sony's Playstation 4 (PS4) sold one-million units in the first 24 hours, but they're not the only new gaming console in town— Microsoft's Xbox One is coming out this week too.
So far with the PS4 you get all the things you usually get and would expect with a new gaming console. It has a new controller, better graphics, and better streaming capabilities (since they're not just for gaming anymore) and it's faster overall.
Interesting note with the PS4; people are price gouging on Amazon and elsewhere. The manufacturers suggested retail price is $399, but you can find it on the site for as high as $799. It's like scalping tickets, so obviously they must be in demand if anyone's willing to pay that much for it.
PS4 and XBox One Go Head To Head
I went to a Xbox pre-launch party, not too far from the KCBS studios and I'm not a gamer, but I have to say I was impressed with the graphics. The Kinect was pretty cool too. It's a camera that sits on top of the Xbox or on top of the TV and it knows who you are when you walk in the room. It even senses your motion so you can drive by simply moving your body. They're bundling it with the console, which I think is a brilliant idea.
