Larry Magid: Amazon Unveils 2 New Versions Of Kindle Tablet
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Amazon unveiled two new versions of its Kindle Fire tablet this week and they include a new feature called 'Mayday'.
One is a 7" and the other is an 8.9" (roughly the size of popular Android tablets). I've got tablets galore and I actually may go ahead and buy this because it has one killer feature connected to Amazon Prime.
With the Prime service you pay $79 a year and you get free two-day shipping, plus you get access to their library of streaming video. It's not as big as Netflix, but still you get thousands of TV shows and movies.
Now you can download that content to the Kindle Fire, which means when I get on an airplane and I don't have internet access over the Pacific Ocean, I can still watch movies, but I can't on my iPad or Android because I have to stream them.
The new Kindle Fire is being marketed as having a sharper, more colorful display than the iPad.

Another cool feature is the Mayday button, which you can press for access to an expert who can advise and even co-pilot by drawing on your screen.
Kindles are great for reading, they have a lot of content through the Amazon library and they've dropped the price of the Fire to $139.
