East Bay Man Accused Of Drugging, Sexually Assaulting Women Arrested In Illinois
SAN RAMON (CBS SF) – A San Ramon man was arrested last month in Illinois on suspicion of allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting at least four victims and possibly more in the Bay Area, Fremont police said Monday.
Kwangmin Jin, 20, was arrested by Fremont police detectives on Sept. 23 in Champaign, Illinois, with assistance from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign police.
Fremont police said an investigation revealed that Jin arranged meetings with at least four women through social media between May and August of this year.
When he met the victims, he allegedly gave them alcoholic drinks tainted with sedative drugs and then sexually assaulted them, according to police.
Because the victims were rendered unconscious, police said there's a possibility that women who came into contact with Jin did not know what transpired.
Police said the meetings were arranged through Tinder, MocoSpace, Skout and Facebook. He adopted a number of fake names, including Kevin Park, Kevin Jin, Jeremy Lee and Kevin Lee.
Jin has been booked into a jail in Illinois and is awaiting extradition to Alameda County, according to police.
Fremont police said there is evidence indicating that there are probably more victims throughout the Bay Area. Anyone who may have had contact with Jin is asked to contact police at (510) 790-6900.
