Kitchen Fire At San Jose McDonalds Causes $100K In Damage
SAN JOSE (CBS) -- Customers will have to find burgers and fries at another McDonald's in San Jose following a kitchen fire that caused about $100,000 in damage to one of the franchise's locations Saturday afternoon, a fire captain said.
Firefighters responded to reports of a two-alarm blaze at the McDonald's located at 1142 N. Capitol Ave. at about 12:50 p.m., San Jose fire Capt. Anthony Melendrez said.
A combined 10 engines and trucks assisted in extinguishing the fire, which damaged the kitchen, attic, and ducts in the restaurant, Melendrez said.
The blaze was put out at about 1:50 p.m. with no injuries reported, but firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof in order to battle the flames, Melendrez said.
Investigators are still working to identify the cause of the fire, he said.
The restaurant has been closed until further notice.
