Killer Loose In Albany, East Bay Town's First Murder In Decade
ALBANY (CBS SF) -- A 37-year-old woman was found dead in an apparent homicide at her
apartment in Albany on Monday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded around 4 p.m. Monday to a report of an unconscious woman in an apartment in the 1000 block of Kains Avenue.
That's near Marin and San Pablo Avenues, across from Ocean View Elementary and Cornell Elementary, just blocks from the Albany Library.
Authorities found the woman, whose name is not yet being released, lying on the floor of her apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Alameda County coroner's bureau will be responsible for determining the woman's cause of death, according to police.
No arrests had been made in the case as of today and no suspect information was immediately available, police said.
The city hasn't reported a homicide since 2004, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Albany police at (510) 525-7300.
