Jury Begins Deliberations In Anna Nicole Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A jury has begun deliberations in the drug conspiracy case against Anna Nicole Smith's two doctors and her lawyer-boyfriend.

After nine weeks of testimony and arguments, the panel of six women and six men began considering 11 charges on Tuesday.

Jurors must decide whether the defendants provided excessive opiates and sedatives to the former Playboy model knowing she was an addict. Defense lawyers have said she was not an addict and the medications were for pain.

Drs. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich and Smith's boyfriend Howard K. Stern have pleaded not guilty to charges including prescribing under false names. They are not charged in Smith's 2007 overdose death in Florida.
