'Joe The Plumber' Speaks At Conservative San Mateo Co. Fundraiser
MONTARA (CBS SF) -- Conservative leaders from around the country gathered at a private home in Montara Thursday evening to raise funds to challenge President Barack Obama's presidential re-election bid in 2012.
The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama, a newly formed political group associated with the Tea Party Express, hosted "An Evening with the Joes," a fundraising event featuring Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio; Joe Miller, a former Republican candidate for Senate from Alaska; and "Joe the Plumber," campaign vice president Ryan Gill said.
Also expected to attend are conservative activist Melanie Morgan and Sharron Angle, Republican candidate for Nevada senator in 2010.
Tickets for Thursday's event range from $212 to $2,012, Gill said.
The group plans to hold a formal campaign launch in Washington, D.C., later this spring, Gill said.
