JK Rowling Schools Fan About Dumbledore's Sexuality ...And It's 'Perfect'
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Albus Dumbledore is gay.
If you've never read a Harry Potter book, or seen any of the movies, these four words mean nothing to you.
Apparently, they do, though, for some fans, and author JK Rowling has little patience for homophobic musings - real or implied.
Like when Twitter follower Ana Kocovic asked, 'I wonder why you said that Dumbledore is a gay because I can't see him in that way.'
Rowling tweeted back, 'Maybe because gay people look like… people?' Hundreds of followers retweeted her retort, calling it "perfect."
In an interview on TheLeakyCauldron.org, author Rowling said she'd always envisioned Hogwarts teacher as a gay man who "lost his moral compass completely when he fell in love… and subsequently became very mistrusting of his own judgment in those matters so became quite asexual. He led a celibate and bookish life."
Back in December, another follower asked Rowling if Hogwarts was a safe environment for LGBT students.
She tweeted a meme created by Nova Scotia's Youth Project with the words, 'If Harry Potter taught us anything, it's that no one should live in a closet.'
Consider yourself schooled.
