Jaycee Dugard Memoir Goes On Sale
(CBS SF) - A memoir written by kidnap survivor Jaycee Dugard about her abduction and 18 years of captivity was released Tuesday.
Dugard was 11 when Phillip and Nancy Garrido kidnapped her near her South Lake Tahoe home in 1991, then held her captive in the backyard of their home just outside of Antioch.
During her captivity, Dugard was repeatedly raped, and gave birth to two daughters fathered by Phillip Garrido.
Dugard's 288-page memoir describes her abduction, her captivity and her eventual freedom after she was discovered on Aug. 26, 2009.
The memoir, titled "A Stolen Life," is now on bookshelves in hardcover. An eBook and audio book read by Dugard was also being released Tuesday.
Phillip and Nancy Garrido pleaded guilty to kidnapping, rape and sexual assault charges. On June 2, two decades after abducting Dugard, Phillip Garrido, 60, was sentenced to 431 years in prison and Nancy Garrido, 55, was sentenced to 36 years in prison in El Dorado County Superior Court in Placerville.
