THE BIG YEAR (PG-13)
"The Big Year" tells the story of three guys who are "birders," men who search for boards on top of rooftops, trees, boats, whatever it takes! But this take it's a real competition. Now there's two elements that makes this film work, is the gorgeous cinemaphotography and all kinds of birds to which they really need to be seen. Plus three appealing actors and the look differently from each other! Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson…all different and they make the most of really slight script. But it truly is the birds that make it work! For this one, I give "2 1/2 hats!" Its gentle and it really celebrates birds
After this, I suggest "A Download Winged Migration," a terrific "4-Hats Documentary" about the miracle and majesty of birds.
