Jack White Heads To The Forest For Outside Lands Pop-Up Show
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF/LIVE 105) - Never to be the predictable rock star, Jack White deviated from the festival norm and played a surprise "pop-up" show before his official set at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. White gathered up his all female band and headed into the cypress strewn fields to do three songs. The crew piled out of the Third Man Rolling Record Store and performed an intimate set the few hundred in-the-know fans will not soon forget.
White performed his solo single "Love Interruption," The Raconteurs' "Broken Boy Soldier" and The White Stripes' "Hotel Yorba." Watch his performances below.
Later, White told LIVE 105, "We've been playing free shows in the afternoon in appropriate places. Try to make our brains work a little harder. We just played out in the woods here in the festival."
White has been performing pop-up shows around his regularly scheduled festival stops. Most recently, he made a surprise appearance at Chicago's Reckless Records just prior to his Lollapalooza set. Fans were notified of the show at 2 a.m. the night prior via Twitter.
