IUPUI Defeats USF On Late 3-Pointer

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Sean Esposito's 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 5 seconds left gave IUPUI a 69-68 comeback victory Thursday night in the final round of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

John Ashworth scored a career-high 18 points, all on 3-pointers in 10 attempts, to lead the Jaguars (6-8). Alex Young finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for IUPUI, which trailed 68-63 with 25 seconds left and by 11 with 6 minutes to play.

Stephen Thomas had 16 points for the Jaguars, and Esposito ended with nine points by going 3 of 6 from 3-point range.

Michael Williams led San Francisco (4-8) with 17 points and 10 assists. Williams missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds. Cody Doolin added 12 points.

IUPUI was without second-leading scorer Leroy Nobles, who sprained his ankle Wednesdy night in a loss to No. 7 San Diego State.
