Injury To Golden Gate Bridge Worker Briefly Shuts Lane
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A Golden Gate Bridge worker was injured in an accident on one of the bridge's sidewalks Tuesday morning, a bridge district spokeswoman said.
The incident was reported at 7:47 a.m. on the western sidewalk just north of the south tower, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial reports to the CHP indicated that a scooter was somehow caught in a rail and that someone may have suffered a head injury.
Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District spokeswoman Mary Currie said the worker struck a railing and was taken to a hospital for observation.
The worker's injuries are not considered life-threatening, she said.
The right southbound lane was briefly blocked while the CHP responded to the incident.
