Overnight I-880 Roadwork To Bring Southbound Lane Closures
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Work on a project to widen southbound interstate highway 880 in Alameda County is scheduled to begin Sunday evening, according to the California Department of Transportation.
Caltrans, along with the Alameda County Transportation Commission, are widening southbound Highway 880 from Hegenberger Road in Oakland to Marina Boulevard in San Leandro, Caltrans officials said.
The project will widen the highway to incorporate a high-occupancy-vehicle lane, as well as reconstructing the Davis Street and Marina Boulevard overpasses, officials said.
There will be various lane closures, as well as on- and off-ramp closures to Davis Street and Marina Boulevard during the project.
Lane closures are scheduled to take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday night into Monday morning through Thursday night into Friday morning, and 8 p.m. Fridays to 9 a.m. Saturdays, Caltrans officials said.
Ramp closures are scheduled to be 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day. Only one ramp will be closed at any given time, officials said.
Drivers in the area of the work should expect delays and accommodate for their commute.
